Some Big News

June 01, 2005 — As soon as we saw those words on the email, we knew what it was. And it's unanimous -- it's the best news we've all heard in a while. Greg and Erica are engaged and I couldn't be happier for these two wonderful, perfectly matched people.

In true Greg and Erica style, there's even a Web page to announce it. A big congratulations to Greg and Erica!

Memorial Day in San Francisco

June 05, 2005Some new pictures from a recent trip to San Francisco for Memorial Day.

What are the chances?

June 14, 2005This article made me laugh because they used a slightly reworded version of my favorite rhetorical question "What are the odds of that?" and then they proceeded to answer it. Yahoo, CNN. Yahoo, probability.

A little bit of Philly...

June 14, 2005 — There was an airplane fiesta, little umbrellas, animal chairs, a broken bell, impressive tongs, and a giant heart. It was a trip to Philadelphia and a visit to Marty's house. It's Tuesday, the pictures are posted, and that proves there's no lag for work friends.

Incidentally, the chairs are known as Eero Aarnio Pony (not frog) and they're over $1700. So I'm probably not getting one.

Frequent Flyer Fifteen

June 20, 2005 — As a cost saving measure, airlines have started charging for snacks and meals on their flights. No matter what you think of this measure, I think there's a more alarming issue involved here. On Northwest, the $3 snack box includes the following:

  • Quaker Oats Chewy Granola Bar
  • Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers
  • O'Brien's Beef Summer Sausage
  • Oreo Cookies
  • Fruity Delights Snack Mick
  • President Cheese Wedge
  • Pepperidge Farm Honey Wheat Crackers

Isn't that a great deal? Three dollars for all of that! This deal is so good that I wouldn't be surprised if it were subsidized by a group of unemployed cardiologists. Call me "crazy health-conscious" if you want, but doesn't eating all seven of those snacks seem a bit excessive? In fact, isn't it obscene? They may as well just include a free seat beat extender with the snack pack. The "you made me fat" lawsuit is inevitable and it's all downhill from there. They will soon have to announce that Worldperks (or Worldporks) members will earn approximately 350 miles and 2,100 calories on this flight.
